Estate Rental

Rent all three villas for a special occasion…

Citakara Sari estate comprises three villas, ponds and water features, hundreds of flowering bushes, fruit trees and flowers, and 17 m infinity pool. The estate’s use of thatch, reclaimed teak panels, volcanic stones and local granite/marble/sand stone creates the sense of intimacy. Wonderful ocean views are ubiquitous at the estate and from every villa guests can enjoy the proximity of the ocean.  Each villa is equipped with living / dining room, kitchen, media room and two bedrooms with king-size beds, additional single-twin beds, daybeds and en-suite bathrooms.  A meticulously maintained lawn connects all the structures. A dining bale (situated next to our private white sand beach above the ocean) is used for many  things: dining area by the ocean, massage space for those who prefer open environment to totally private spa; yoga pavilion, game center, and space for art lessons by our artists- in- residence. .

An oasis of peace, calm and welcoming seclusion

Our estate is managed by Ibu Ayu who has 20 years experience in hospitality and has been with us since the very beginning. She leads the crew of seven: professional cook, housemaids, poolboy, gardener and security staff.

Citakara Sari estate occupies a huge piece of property (6200m2). It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to find an oceanfront property of this size in a developed tourist area.   The space at the estate is one of the main “luxuries.” It will certainly be appreciated by guests of  Citakara Sari estate. The  physical space conceived in three linear dimensions is considered with time and becomes the place where our guests can spend a week without going out of the front gate. It is tranquil and boundless.

Days can start with a morning snorkel in the lagoon off the small sand beach, exploring the coral beds and floating above shimmering schools of fish. The lagoon is perfect for kids and adults just learning to snorkel, with shallow waters, safely protected by the reef, and plenty of fish.

The immense ocean in front of the property with stunning horizon provides for on-going viewing of water and clouds; mountains on the back contribute to a feeling of security.

We are in Mendira village in a tranquil corner of Candidasa, on the east coast of Bali. The small town Candi Dasa, with a number of different shops and restaurants for every budget, is a short drive/walk away.  A recently completed thighway connects Citakara Sari to the capital/airport. Denpasar can be reached in 50 min and it takes a little over one hour to get to Ngurah Rai International Airport

Our villas are surrounded by tall trees as they were carefully built in a coconut grove. With a mountain at the back and ocean right in front of us, there is plenty to do for active travelers: hiking or snorkeling is technically at our gates. We are lucky to be located in Bali’s diving triangle between wonderful diving spots of Nusa Penida/Nusa Lembongan with mola-mola fish, manta rays  and plenty of great diving sites in front and around Candi Dasa. Activities can include Balinese cooking classes, visits to traditional markets, hiking, mountain bike riding, white-water rafting, fishing and much more.

Of course, there are plenty of cultural artifacts and places around. Palaces of past Klunkung and Karangasem kings, sacred Hindu temples, scenic mountain valleys, authentic ancient villages and beautiful tropical parks are a short drive away.

Three villas–named “Saraswati,” “Joglo,” and “Yoga Bale” –form a great compound suitable for large families reunions, weddings, anniversaries, and sharing with friends. The best is to rent all of the villas together and enjoy exclusive use of the entire grounds, including a private spa, pool, tennis court and ponds. The villas are available to rent separately as well.

Villa Saraswati is the newest villa at the compound, just completed in August 2015. The villa is an elegant structure, which has a genuine  teak house from Kudus as a core. It is very large for a one story building (325m2). The spacious villa has two bedrooms with stylish semi-open bathrooms attached and grand entertainment/media/living/dining area. Carved walls, soaring ceilings, multiple day beds, paintings and other artifacts on a floor and walls.

Villa Joglo is the largest villa and was built using a 150-year-old antique traditional Javanese house. Intricate carved wood delights the eye at every turn; a combination of wide glass doors on two sides of the second floor create an interior that is at once rooted in island tradition but modern and light filled. Beautifully decorated with a mixture of contemporary artwork and quirky traditional crafts, every piece of furniture is individual, carefully chosen for comfort as well as beauty.

Floors are smooth local stone tiles, tactile and pleasing to bare feet – there is no reason to wear shoes at all at the villas inside or out as the grass lawns are soft as deep pile carpet.

Upstairs in Villa Joglo the stunning carved ceiling is the architectural focus. The two bedrooms are divided by teak wood and glass panels, and a central room with a daybed.  All three rooms open onto a wide wrap-around balcony with an upstairs sitting area and stunning views through the palms to the sea and the island of Nusa Penida.

The third Balinese thatched villa, Yoga Bale, has two large bedrooms and its own spacious open living room with soaring thatch ceiling. It is designed for island living with two sides open to the garden, closed in only by hard wood blinds when windy and at night. The downstairs family bedroom with two large carved wood beds and plenty of space for a cot is well suited to young families. The two bathrooms are open-air, like small private courtyards with plants and greenery as part of the furnishings.
